BELMONT X BONAS It surely is all happening in Bang BELMONT X BONAS It surely is all happening in Bangkok! Thanks @vincent_pardieu for the shoutout and for attending the recent @belmont_emeralds and @bonasgroup tender of Brazilian Emeralds. It's always nice to chat about your travels and dedication to field gemmology research. ✨️To read more about why Bangkok is the centre of rough gem auctions, check my latest article for @rapaportjewelrypro via the link in bio. #gemstonetrade #gemstonenews #JewelleryJournalist #gemstonetender #brazilianemeralds #gemstoneauctions #Bangkokgemstones #gemresearch _________________________________________________ #Repost - @vincent_pardieu by @get_regrammer “Somewhere in the Ulu” Travelogue (in Bangkok, Thailand) . (Gem auctions in Bangkok) . Lets start this gem auction travelogue with the recent Belmont Brazilan emerald auction and a group photo to introduce few noticeable industry friends i had great discussions with during that auction: Left to right: - Isabella Yan (@izza_gem ), a freelance consultant providing her services ( communications, PR, client introductions, stock control, setting things up...) to Bonas. She is also a trade journalist who recently wrote an interesting article in Rappaport about rough gem auctions in Bangkok (see for more on her social media) - Me (no introduction needed) - Marcelo Ribeiro (@mar_rifer ), the Director of Belmont (@belmont_emeralds ). Marcelo is the grand son of the owner of Belmont (a fascinating emerald deposit discovered 46 years ago on a cattle ranch in Minas Gerais state of Brazil). After studying mining engineering, he developed this family owned mine as one of the most modern and efficient in the world. - Cyrille Djankoff (aka @cyrilledjankoff ), the head of Colored Stones at Bonas (aka @bonasgroup ) since 2020. Cyrille, a genuine gemstone adventurer with an incredible experience mining gems from Tajikistan to Africa, has been behind all the gem auctions organized by Bonas in Bangkok for the past few years. . THE LOWDOWN ON LAB-GROWN Lab-grown is such a hot THE LOWDOWN ON LAB-GROWN Lab-grown is such a hot topic these days. Read my article for @rapaportgroup on the latest developments. A very interesting article to write, carefully weighing both perspectives. One way to prevent confusion between lab-grown and natural diamonds is to prioritise educating consumers about their differences. There is often a tendency to conflate the two, when in reality, sellers should treat them as distinct categories targeting different consumer demographics. I particularly liked the analogy of the taxi and an Uber from Julia Kusher, founder of Ukraine-based jeweller Solo for Diamonds, to describe Natural and Lab-grown diamonds,@solo__for__dio "𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒚 𝒅𝒐𝒏’𝒕 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒑𝒆𝒕𝒆, 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒚 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒐𝒇𝒇𝒆𝒓 𝒅𝒊𝒇𝒇𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒊𝒄𝒆𝒔."
